Bees and Water

bees drinking water.jpg

Water is so important to bees. In addition to helping with digestion and creating food to feed developing bees, they use water like central ac. Bees use water to control the temperature in the hive. They bring clean water back to the hive and put it on top of sealed cells. Then the workers use their wings to create airflow that evaporates the water and cools the hive.

You can provide water for bees using a bird bath or shallow container with a few rocks for them to land and get a drink.
