My hive as an Enneagram 2!

We’re continuing our summer series with the Enneagram 2 personality type, known as the helper. One of the biggest ways the hive is a helper is through pollination.

I love when my rose bush blooms and this old honey jar someone gave me makes the cutest little vase! They have the prettiest soft pink petals and smell so sweet. It tells me summer has fully arrived. The bush was planted by the people who lived here before me and I have enjoyed it so much over the years. I recently learned that roses don’t have nectar, but you may still notice the bees enjoying your roses, because they do have pollen. Bees collect pollen and bring it back for the entire hive to eat. Pollen provides healthy fats and proteins for bees.

When you watch bees working in a hive it may look at first as if they are all working independently, but actually they help each other out quite a bit. I love watching them work together to clean up spilled honey or even help to clean each other up. And, if one is being attacked by a wasp her friends will come to her aid and help her fight it off.

And of course, when bees are collecting pollen they are also helping to pollinate plants which gives us food to eat. 1 out of every 3 bites of food on our plate is due to pollination. Next time you pass by blooming fruit trees or veggie plants pause a second to look for our hard working friends and give them a little thanks for helping us to have such tasty meals!
