Our Enneahive Summer is taking us to the Enneagram 6 today. The 6 is called the Loyalist and is know for being reliable and hard-working. They are also security-oriented and this is where we will begin.

My hive shows up as the Enneagram 6 when they are collecting honey. They really like security of resources, especially honey. A big reason they bring honey back into the hive is to store up food for the winter and “dearth” seasons, when nectar is unavailable. The fun thing is that as long as the nectar is flowing they will collect it and make honey! You might think they would stop when they’ve collected what they need to make it through the colder months. In Colorado, a typical hive will use about 50-60 pounds of honey in the winter. In warmer climates they need less and in colder climates they’ll use more. But, the average healthy hive can collect up to 100 pounds of honey in a year! They are hard-working and make sure that they have more than enough food to survive the cold.

They are also extremely loyal to the hive. I mean, they are willing to give their life for the safety of their sisters and their queen! A few of the bees will have the job of attending to the queen’s every need. They surround her and move along with her as she is laying eggs. And, I mean they attend to EVERY need of the queen. They feed her, groom her and even remove her waste and digest her food for her. Now that is some loyalty!
