From Nectar to Honey
Did you know that honey is the only edible food that will never go bad! Ever wonder how it’s made?
The foraging bees will collect nectar in their honey stomach. Yes, they have a separate stomach for honey! Once full they return to the hive and put it into honeycomb wax cells. Then they work together fanning their wings to bring the moisture content down to about 17 percent. Natural dehydration! When that’s done they put a wax seal over the honey to keep it clean and free of extra water.
